[ARCHIVED] Whatcom County COVID-19 Data Charts Have Been Updated

Two Charts Updated Weekly

Every Monday we update two charts showing data that are not yet part of the interactive data dashboard. While we will continue to update weekly, we will no longer send a newsflash to alert you to these weekly updates.

These charts include:

  • A chart showing the percentage of confirmed cases by race and ethnicity.

  • A map showing the rate of confirmed cases by geographic region in Whatcom County.

New Link to the Washington State Phases and Risk Assessment Dashboard Added

Previously, we provided a chart that showed the average number of Confirmed Cases in Whatcom County, Per Day. We now link to Washington State’s Phases and Risk Assessment Dashboard as a replacement for that chart. To view Whatcom County data, select Whatcom in the blue drop down box labeled Phases by County located on the left hand side of the assessment dashboard or click on Whatcom County on the map. This dashboard shows the rate of newly diagnosed cases per 100,000 residents in Whatcom County during the prior two weeks. This value provides the same information as our chart in a slightly different format. Our previous chart showed the average value without calculating the rate per 100,000 people.

The State Phases and Risk Assessment Dashboard includes targets, not requirements, for moving from one phase to another. It also allows the viewer to compare how Whatcom County is meeting the goals required to move to each phase of the Safe Start plan compared to the state as a whole and other counties.

There is a lot of detailed information within our new data dashboard. Our Data Dashboard Explainer and COVID-19 Data FAQs are great reference tools to explain the data and answer your questions.  Links to these documents are provided at the top of our COVID-19 Data Dashboard page.

We are committed to sharing accurate and relevant data about COVID-19 with our community. Data provides the information we need to safely turn the dial for reopening. We all want to have more contact with loved ones, friends, and co-workers. The data are a way to see the impact of our increased connection. Check back here regularly to monitor our community’s progress.
