Mental Health Court

Mental Health Court is a court with a special docket designed to increase an offender's likelihood for successful rehabilitation through early, continuous and intense judicially supervised mental health treatment.  Mental Health Court is accessed through your Public Defender.

Who do we serve?

Whatcom County adults with a serious mental illness who:

  • Are involved with the criminal justice system;
  • Have a high risk to reoffend;
  • Have current criminal charges pending with District or Municipal Court.
