Aim of Drug Court
The overall aim of Drug Court is to reduce drug abuse and drug
related crimes within our community. More importantly, on the human
side, Drug Court gets support to individuals who need assistance with
drug addiction. The program identifies and provides treatment programs
rather than simple incarceration.
How Drug Courts Are
Effective
Across the nation Drug Courts are becoming a focus in communities
attempting to reduce the number of drug offenders and drug-related
crimes. Since their inception in 1989 Drug Courts have proven to
reduce drug-related crimes, reduce the recidivism rate of drug
offenders, and operate in a more cost effective manner than the
traditional court system.
Benefits of Drug Courts
Drug Courts have provided clear benefits of reduced crime, reduced
drug use and the rebuilding of broken families while also saving
significant amounts of money. It is imperative that the community and
the legislative bodies continue and expand their support in this
