Students Internships
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office offers student
internships on a continuous basis to students who wish to
volunteer their time to learn more about law enforcement,
and if applicable, earn academic credit.
Student internships are offered in the following divisions:
- Detectives
- Records/ID
- Crime Analysis
Work assignments vary according to
the division. If you are interested in an internship, contact
the volunteer service
coordinator.

Or you can simply come into our office and pick up a volunteer
application. Applications are processed for a background
investigation and after an interview and successful completion
of a polygraph examination, students are allowed to serve
in different divisions within the Sheriff’s Office,
depending on interests or greatest need.
