Corrections Deputy
Position:
The Whatcom County Sheriff's Office conducts a continuous hiring process for entry-level Corrections
Deputy positions. Please refer to www.PublicSafetyTesting.com's website for written/physical ability testing information. Successful candidates will receive an application in the mail.
An eligibility list will
be formed from the resulting written, physical ability, and oral board (completed by WCSO) tests.

Lateral Application Requirements:
- Applicants must have been employed as a Corrections
Officer with two years general Corrections experience
within Washington State. At least twelve of the months must be
consecutive
with the most recent employer and the applicant must
have passed his / her probationary period.
- Applicants must have completed the WSCJTC Corrections
Officer Academy, Washington State Department of Corrections
Workers Core Academy, or successfully obtain a Washington
State Equivalency Certificate during their probationary
period.
- Applicants must possess, or have the ability
to obtain prior to employment, a valid Washington State
Driver’s
License.
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or
its equivalent.
- Applicants must complete the Lateral Entry Experience
and Training Questionnaire and satisfactorily pass an
Oral Board interview, polygraph examination, psychological
examination,
and physical examination, as well as a background check
for the Whatcom County Civil Service System.
- Applicants
must have United States citizenship.
