Water Resources Program

The Whatcom County Public Works Water Resources Program oversees and coordinates the surface-water related divisions within the department. The program includes the River and Flood Division, the Stormwater Division and the Natural Resources Divison. The Water Resources Program ensures a consistent and predictable level of performance in the administration of the Flood Control Zone District (FCZD) and other Sub-Districts.

The Whatcom County Council, in its role as the FCZD Board of Supervisors, adopts a Six-Year Water Resources Improvement Program (WRIP). The Six-Year WRIP describes the capital improvement projects for the next six years.
