
Mosquito Lake Road / Middle Fork Bridge Closure
Bridge Closure of the Mosquito Lake Rd/Middle Fork Bridge begins Monday, June 22nd and will last for approx 8-10 months. The bridge closure is for all vehicles including emergency. A signed detour route is in effect. It is located about 5.5 miles south of Mt Baker Hwy (SR542). This bridge rehabilitation project will include replacement of the approach spans, removal and replacement of the existing decking, new guardrails, replacement of many structural steel members, repainting of the bridge and scour protection installed in the river.
Hampton Road / Mormon Ditch Bridge Replacement
Whatcom County Public Works announces a bridge replacement project. Hampton Road/Mormon Ditch Bridge just south of Lynden from Front Street down Hampton Road for 800 feet. The project will include a new 145 ft long bridge with 12ft driving lanes, 6ft shoulders and 6ft sidewalks on both sides. Closed since April 29th and scheduled to reopen at 12:00 p.m. noon, October 29th, 2009. The public is advised to use caution and lower their speed through the site, as there may be some minor construction punch list activities still underway.
