Long Range Planning - Agricultural Program

Agriculture is an important industry in Whatcom County. Large and small farmers contribute to the nearly 330 million dollar market value of agricultural production coming from our county. The Whatcom County Council has set a goal of maintaining at least 100,000 acres of land in farming to support a viable agricultural industry (RES 2009-040). The Council has also endorsed the Agricultural Strategic Plan (RES 2011-023), which provides guidance on achieving the 100,000 acre goal.
