Future Updates
Whatcom County is on track to have critical areas and development regulations in compliance with RCW 36.70A.130 in Spring 2010. At this point, pursuant to RCW 76.09.240, Whatcom County is to adopt and enforce ordinances or regulations that require appropriate approvals for all phases of the conversion of forest lands. By doing so, Class IV-General permits will be reviewed solely by Whatcom County, rather than in conjunction with Washington State Department of Natural Resources.
In the coming months there will be open house meetings to provide information and answer questions about this legislation, and Whatcom County’s response to it.
