  • The closure applies to all projects that will expose greater than 500 square feet of soil.
  • In order to meet the intent of the ordinance, Whatcom County will stop issuing permits resulting in land disturbance greater than 500 square feet on August 19, 2005 .   These will not be issued until May 1, 2006 . Applicants will be notified by mail.
  • Projects that have exposed soil as of September 1 will be given a date by which to stabilize and cover the disturbed soil.
  • Projects that expose less than 500 square feet of soil will be permitted throughout the season.

Due to the two regulations in effect this winter there will be many situations that will be inconsistent in the Watershed.   County staff appreciates your patience during this transition.
