Whatcom County Building Services Division includes the Building Official/Division Manager, the Division Secretary and Receptionists who answer the phones and provide the Division with clerical support, the Planners and Permit Center Technicians at the front counter who greet the public, provide direct customer service and process permit applications, the Plans Examiners who provide customer service and review, process and comment on the full range of building and development permits, the Public Service Inspectors who provide customer service and perform the complete spectrum of required life/safety inspections. The Division also encompasses the Fire Marshal’s office, which includes the Fire Marshal and the Fire Inspectors.
