| South Fork Park |
Since 2007, Whatcom County Parks & Recreation has held multiple public planning sessions to gather ideas and input to formulate park goals for the South Fork Park.
The site consists of three separate parcels totaling 603 acres - the Nesset Farm and homestead, the Overby Farm and the Galbraith Farm. All three tracts border, and are heavily influenced by the South Fork of the Nooksack River. The Galbraith Farm has frontage along Mosquito Lake Road and is located 1/2 mile east of Acme. The sites are rich in history and have a diversity of environments. In addition to the three parcels listed above, the Parks Department has requested reconveyance of 287 acres from the Department of Natural Resources. These lands provide a critical connection between the Galbraith parcel and the Overby parcel as well as surrounding recreational lands. |
