Silver Lake Picnic Shelters
There are three covered picnic shelters at Silver Lake Park
that can be reserved by groups or individuals on a daily
basis.
Group Picnic Shelter: This picnic
shelter is located in the main day use area of the park overlooking
the lake near
the boat launch, and is ideal for larger groups. Architecturally
unique, this spacious octagonal structure has a huge central
fireplace and covered seating for up to 75 people. There
is a service counter with a coin operated four-burner cook
top, double sink and electrical outlets for coffeepots, etc.
and a large (24” x 48”) freestanding outdoor
barbeque. Surrounding lawn areas for games, etc., ample parking
and convenient to restroom facilities.
Horse Camp Kitchen Shelters: These shelters are located
at the Horse Camp and are suitable for smaller groups. Situated
on the edge of small open lawn areas at the north and south
ends of the Horse Camp, these shelters have indoor fireplaces,
service counters with coin operated four-burner cook tops,
double sinks and electrical outlets for coffeepots, etc.
and large (24” x 48”) freestanding outdoor barbeques.
Parking is limited and use of these shelters is limited to
persons already camping at the Horse Camp.
Reservations:
Whatcom County residents may reserve for the current season
(April-Oct.), beginning January 1. Non-County residents may
reserve for the current season (April-Oct.), beginning April
1. Upon confirming a reservation date and time, the park staff
will send all necessary forms to you. The use and/or consumption
of alcohol is permitted inside the shelters if a Banquet Permit
is obtained from the Washington State Liquor Control Board.
