The Horse Camp at Silver Lake
Park is a unique facility designed for people who like to
take their horses camping with them. Tucked into the woods
on the edge of a large meadow at the foot of Red Mountain,
it’s a beautiful location with trails and open fields
to ride and access to many miles of forest roads.
Horse Camp Features:
There are 28 individual campsites at the Horse Camp, with
water and electrical hook-ups, a picnic table and fire pit
at each site. The sites will accommodate tents, RV’s
or vehicles with trailers. Each campsite is limited to one
camping unit. A camping unit is defined as one vehicle and
tent or one vehicle and trailer or one recreational vehicle,
with a maximum of eight people per campsite.
There are two stables for park users’ horses with
tie stalls for up to 30 horses each. Ample horse trailer
parking areas are convenient to the stables.
There are two covered kitchen shelters, located on the edge
of small grassy areas at either end of the Horse Camp, which
can be reserved by groups or individuals on a daily basis.
The shelters have central indoor fireplaces, picnic tables,
serving counters with sinks and coin-operated electric stovetops,
and large outdoor BBQ’s. A great place for club meetings
or a central meeting place for large groups.
