Youth Rifle Shooting Program - $5.00

Our .22 rim-fire rifle "Youth Rifle Shooting Program" for youth age 16 years and younger will be held at the Plantatin Rifle Range in 2014. The Range is seeking a grant from The Whatcom Community Foundation to fund the Youth Rifle Shooting Program and a few local businesses that have supported this program in the past: Yeager's Sporting Goods (Bellingham), Wholesale Sports and Outdoor Outfitters (Burlington), Kesselring's Gun Shop (Burlington) and Skagit Arms (Burlington).

This program will have 2 season, so more youth have an opportunity to participate:

The first season is scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 3, 2014 for 6 consecutive Saturday mornings, ending on June 7, 2014. Each session is from 8:15 - 10:15 AM.

The second season is scheduled to begin on Saturday, November 1, 2014 for 6 consecutive Saturday mornings, ending on December 7, 2014. Each session is 8:15 - 10:15 AM.

All rifles, ammunition, ear and eye protection and targets are supplied. Participating families may bring their own .22 rim-fire rifles and ammunition is they wish.

All youth must have an accompanying parent or guardian and may attend any single session or all 12 sessions.

The program begins at 8:15 AM each Saturday with a briefing on range and firearm safety. Instruction in the proper handling and operation of the rifle will also be given prior to going onto the firing line. Instruction in marksmanship will be given on the firing line as the youth are shooting. The program ends at 10:15 AM.
