Parks in Whatcom County

Whatcom County Parks showcase the best of the natural and cultural heritage of Whatcom County. Our parks provide beaches and water access, over 50 miles of trails, great places for family fun, wildlife viewing, rental facilities for your events, outdoor recreation and interpretive programs, and historic sites to deepen your connections to the stories of these places. The City of Bellingham Parks and Recreation has many parks with picnic sites, trails, swimming, boating, and more.

There are three Washington State Parks in Whatcom County, with various amenities such as camping, picnicking, and hiking:

 

Most of eastern Whatcom County is federal public land with a multitude of recreational opportunities.  Find information about:

  • Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, including the Mount Baker Wilderness and Noisy-Diobsud Wilderness, Heather Meadows, Mount Baker Ski Area, and Baker Lake
  • North Cascades National Park, including Ross Lake National Recreation Area, North Cascades Visitor Center, and North Cascades Environmental Learning Center
  • Okanogan National Forest, including the Pasayten Wilderness, Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail and North Cascades Scenic Highway.
