Come Help Plan Whatcom County's Newest Park Area

Lake Whatcom

In 2014, 8,800 acres of forest lands around Lake Whatcom were transferred to Whatcom County from the Washington Department of Natural Resources through reconveyance.  These lands are envisioned to provide passive recreational opportunities and watershed protection for Lake Whatcom.  You are invited to participate and help plan the future of Whatcom County’s newest park area.

When:   Tuesday, April 29th at 6:30 PM

Where:  Bellingham Senior Activity Center, 315 Halleck Street, Bellingham

At this first of several planned meetings. Parks & Recreation Staff will present a brief overview of the process, challenges and lands involved.  Participants will be asked to help identify important issues, goals and opportunities to assist the planning process.

Mission Statement
It is the goal of the Parks and Recreation Department to enrich the quality of life for the community and preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the County through provision of outstanding parks, trails, open space, natural areas, recreational activities and Senior Services.
