History
In 1903 the foundation was laid for the Victor A. Roeder Home
located at the end of Sunset Drive with a spectacular view down
Broadway to Bellingham Bay. No expense was spared in constructing
the elegant home. Completed in 1908, the Roeder Home had interior
oak paneling, hand painted murals, and even a built-in vacuum
cleaning system. It was truly a modern house for its time.
The home was given to Whatcom County Parks & Recreation in 1971 by Mrs. Donald Keyes to be used as a community cultural arts and social center.
