Make Our Great Parks Even Better!

Work alongside Park Rangers building and maintaining trails close to the city or high on Chuckanut Mountain.  Care for farm animals at Hovander Homestead Park.  Lead a nature walk at Deming Homestead Eagle Park. Bring your scout troop or youth group to Semiahmoo Park to scour the beaches for litter.

Your enthusiasm and imagination are the only limits to your opportunities to find useful and rewarding volunteer opportunities with Whatcom County Parks & Recreation.  Call today to find out how you can contribute to making these places even better.

Adopt A Trail

Whatcom County Parks provide over 50 miles of maintained trails to county residents and visitors, ranging from wide multi-use trails to rugged backcountry mountain footpaths.

Our Adopt A Trail Program encourages local groups, businesses and non-profit organizations to volunteer their time, skill, and sweat to make this community resource even better.

To get your group engaged in this fun, healthy team-building activity, just fill out the Adopt A Trail Program Application, and return to any Whatcom County Parks & Recreation Office.

Park Rangers will work with your group to identify a trail segment of at least one mile in length for adoption. Your group will provide at least three days of work each year on the trail, doing litter pickup, storm cleanup, trail brushing, tread repair, drainage repair, construction, public education and interpretation or other activities. Park Rangers can provide training, trash bags and pickup, and some tools and materials.

Your efforts will be recognized with the placement of a sign at the start of your adopted trail section.
