Applications received by 11:30 AM will be available by 2:00 PM, same business day. Applications received after 11:30 AM will be available by 9:00 AM the following business day. If you wish to have your certificates mailed to you, please let the front desk staff know when you place your order.

Certified birth certificates can be obtained from our Vital Records department for:

• All Washington State births registered from 1921 to present

For birth records prior to 1908, contact

How Much Does a Birth Certificate Cost?

• $20.00 each (cash or check only) - effective 7/22/07
  Make checks payable to: Vital Records
• Note:  If we are unable to find your record, you will be charged an $8.00 fee for the search.  This charge is per RCW 70.58.107. 

What Information Is Needed to Obtain a Birth Certificate?

1. Name of Child (First, Middle, Last)
2. Birth date of child
3. Place of birth
4. Mother´s maiden name
5. Fathers full name (if known)

Certified death certificates may be obtained from Vital Records for people who died in Whatcom County:

• Whatcom County 1989 to present
