Dental decay is the most common chronic disease of childhood; it is 5 times as common as childhood asthma. Dental Disease has been designated the most prevalent unmet health need in America. In our community, only 17% of Medicaid-insured adults received dental care in 2002. The Whatcom County Health Department is committed to addressing this important issue and improving the oral health needs of community residents.
