Persons at greatest risk for HIV infection and other sexually transmitted diseases are:

  1. Injection drug users
  2. Sexual and needle sharing partners of injection drug users.
  3. Men who have sex with other men
  4. Anyone who has had two (2) or more partners in the past six (6) months.
  5. Anyone whose partner has tested positive for HIV.
  6. Anyone who has had sex for drugs or money.
  7. Women (State and National studies identify women as a risk population).

Frequently Asked Questions about HIV

What ages do we test?
We test anyone age 14 or older.

Is there a cost for services?
Yes, payment in full is expected at the time of service.  We bill Regence Blue Shield, Medicare and Medicaid.  A sliding fee scale is available based on income and family size.

How long does it take for results?
It takes up to two weeks to obtain results.

Do I schedule an appointment?
Yes, an appointment is scheduled for 45 minutes for pre testing and another 15 minute appointment for results.

What procedure is used?
Testing typically involves a blood draw although other methods of gathering a sample may be used.

Can I call for results?
No.  HIV results are not given over the phone.

How can HIV be transmitted?
It can be transmitted by blood, semen, vaginal fluids and breast milk.
