Flood Control Zone District Advisory Committee

Purpose: Being an integral part of the program of reviewing the comprehensive plan for flood control; discussing and recommending budget appropriation; and being the liaison with the public by holding public meetings.

Committee assists and make recommendations to the Flood Control Zone District Board of Supervisors in performing flood damage repairs, maintenance and improvements, and to minimize future further flood damage through prevention and management on the Nooksack River, its watershed and the other watersheds within Whatcom County. Meets monthly or as needed. 
Committee consists of 9 representatives of geographic areas, 2 representatives of Special Districts, 2 representatives of Impacted Cities, and committee alternates.

Term Limit: Geographic areas: 2 full terms, one year separation required before commencing two more terms. Special Districts and Impacted Cities: no term limit.

Term Length:  Geographic area representatives: 4 years. Special District and Impacted Cities representatives: 1 year. Committee alternates: 6 years.
