Whatcom County Emergency Medical Services Boards

This website is dedicated to keeping the public informed of the progress made with emergency medical services planning in Whatcom County

EMS Oversight Board (EOB) Purpose: Make recommendations to Whatcom County and the Cities and Fire Districts of Whatcom County regarding administration, operations, levels of service and EMS budgets.

EMS Technical Advisory Board (TAB) Purpose: Shall serve as advisors and make recommendations to the EOB and to Emergency Medical Service Providers in Whatcom County regarding operational, educational and logistical components of basic through advanced life support services.

Authority: Whatcom County Ordinance #2013-074; Whatcom County Code 5.04.08

Date of Formation: December 10, 2013

Board Membership
The majority of appointments are designated, however there are a few citizen representatives appointed jointly by the County Executive and the Bellingham City Mayor.

The EOB is a 9-member board. The joint appointments are for the following positions: one (1) Financial/Budget Citizen Representative, one (1) Medical Community Citizen Representative, and one (1) Citizen At Large. EOB Application

The TAB is an 11-member board. The joint appointments are for the following positions; one (1) hospital-medical community member, and one (1) paramedic training education provider. TAB Application

2/3/15 -Foundation Grant Award - The Chuckanut Health Foundation has awarded the EMS & Trauma Care Council an $18,245 grant for the purchase of 60 Harwell EVAC-U-splint Adult Vacuum mattresses. These will be used by all the Whatcom County EMS agencies. This grant comes at a critical time as some of the current inventories are at the end of their physical life and need to be removed from service.

Board Meetings

During the first transition year, both Boards will meet more frequently. The EOB Board meetings are open to the public. Meetings are scheduled to occur in Conference Room 514 (*except where indicated otherwise) located on the fifth floor of the County Courthouse - 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, WA. Dates and times are posted below:
