values and each member is required by law to attend an intensive
two-day course on the valuation of real property.
-

Purpose:
The Board of Equalization deals with any issue relating to
property taxation. Most frequently, the Board hears property
tax appeals and complaints regarding an assessor´s determination
of property value. The Board´s responsibility is to
ensure that all properties are valued at 100% of market value
and that comparable properties are assessed at comparable
values. The Board may either lower, raise, or sustain the
land/building assessments. If a taxpayer is not satisifed
with the Board´s decision, the decision may be appealed
to the Washington State Board of Tax Appeals
