Products Transported: Motor gasolines, diesel fuel, aviation jet fuel 1995 Throughput: 306,000 barrels (of 42-U.S. gallons) per day Pumping Stations: Cherry Point — Femdale — Anacortes — Allen — Woodinville — Renton — Tacoma — Olympia Junction — Castle Rock Delivery Facilities: Bayview — Renton — Seattle — Sea-Tac Tacoma — Spanaway — Olympia Vancouver — Linnton — Portland Overview of the Pipeline Construction begins: October, 1964 Construction completed / operation begins: September, 1965 Cost of construction - original 306 miles: $20 million Miles of pipe: 400 miles (the original lines plus additions) * The pipeline is constructed of high quality, welded steel and is usually buried to a depth of three to four feet, although the depth may vary greatly. * Products moving through the system are distributed to Olympic's delivery facilities and then to bulk terminals by means of smaller diameter delivery lines. The bulk terminals are usually near major population centers. * Approximately 60% of the product transported through the system is motor gasoline, destined for service stations in the Pacific Northwest. * Nearly 100% of the aviation jet fuel used at Sea-Tac International Airport is moved by Olympic.
