A work party is a scheduled trail maintenance or development project lead by park staff. Don't worry you don't need to be an expert or have tools. Our staff will provide the training and equipment you need to have a great experience. You will learn planning and construction skills, how to identify and remove invasive species, and how to plant native flora and fauna.

Volunteers know that trails don’t build and maintain themselves. During the summer of 2018, volunteers donated more than 3,000 hours of labor to build 5 miles of new hike and bike trail at Lookout Mountain Forest Preserve.
Our trail work parties are finished for the year. Check back in Spring 2019 for a new season of volunteer opportunities.
